Restarting a resource crashes connected clients

Also seen as: restart resource crashes players txadmin restart crashes clients resource restart disconnects everyone NUI crash on resource restart

What causes it

Restarting certain resources at runtime can crash connected clients — most often resources with NUI or streamed assets, or a resource that other running resources hard-depend on. Some client crashes on restart are tied to NUI teardown bugs on specific builds.

How to fix it

Avoid live-restarting heavy NUI/stream resources with players online; restart the server for those, and keep builds current.

  1. Identify which resource causes the crash when restarted (test with one player).
  2. For NUI-heavy or streamed-asset resources, schedule restarts during low population or restart the whole server.
  3. Make sure you're on current recommended artifacts — some restart-crash bugs are build-specific and fixed upstream.
  4. Don't restart core dependencies (framework, inventory) live; other resources lose their reference and clients desync/crash.
