Resourcecrash
Could not open resource metadata file __resource.lua
Also seen as: Could not open resource metadata file couldn't load resource from resources __resource.lua not found resource metadata file missing
What causes it
The server can't find a resource's manifest. Modern FiveM uses fxmanifest.lua; very old resources used __resource.lua. This error means the file is missing, the resource folder is empty or corrupted, or the resource is double-nested so the manifest isn't where the server expects it.
How to fix it
Confirm the resource has a manifest (fxmanifest.lua) at its root, and isn't double-nested.
- Open the resource folder and confirm a manifest file exists directly inside it.
- If it only has __resource.lua and is very old, it may be outdated — look for an updated version using fxmanifest.lua.
- If double-nested (resource/resource/), move the inner folder up one level.
- If the folder is empty or partial, re-download and re-extract the resource fully.
- Restart and confirm.
